One Week More (to the tune of "Stars" from Les Misérables)

There, out in the darkness
The show will keep running
Leaving just shadows, leaving just wraiths
God be my witness, I never shall yield
Till it’s gone from this place, Till it’s gone from this place.

Until the theatre goes dark, whilst they still tread the boards,
Though blaggards may try to gain entry, I’ll still hold the door
They’ll (‘spite their gall and plausible tales)
Remain outdoors.

Stars, in your multitudes,
Scarce to be counted, keeping the theatre
Full night after night.
But we were the sentinels, silent and sure
Keeping watch in the night, keeping watch in the night,

And as the years they flew by, cast after new cast they came
And some in their seasons returned and returned, roles rarely the same
And so we watched with unspoken pride their rise to fame

And so it must be for all those who sit here at this doorway to paradise
Though some may banter and some may brawl, we still play nice…

Lord let me mind them, that I may see them
Safe to their cars, I will never rest - till then
This I swear,
This I swear by the stars!
